You can now square-up your block to 12 1/2"  or You may turn the block in as is and it will be squared up when placed in the quilt top.

The easiest method for squaring the block is to use a 12 1/2" ruler lining up the 6 1/4" marks on the center of the signature square.

Please drop block off at any participating quilt shop or sewing center  or contact Loretta Weaver  or Debbie Steel for pick-up, drop-off or mailing directions (email Loretta ltweaver@att.net or call (520) 722-6104. or you may email Debbie Steel debbiesteel@earthlink.net ) Please feel free to contact Loretta or Debbie with any questions or concerns.

Please do not date your block.  When the quilt is completed, the label is dated.

* When making multiple blocks, please have family members, friends, fellow quilters sign the blocks. We need 15 different signatures for each quilt. You may write a message to the family in the square. If you elect to write a message to the family on the signature block, please be considerate of the family and understand that while some messages may seem appropriate to you they may be offensive or painful to the family. Out of respect for our fallen heroes and their families, we will not use blocks that have messages that we feel are offensive or insensitive. Please remember that these quilts are being made to honor our fallen heroes and the ultimate sacrifice they made for our country and that this is a non-political project.

Other suggestions for the signature squares: 1. Write the name of a family member who served our country or is serving our country at this time. 2. Write the name of a family member who gave their life in another war or conflict. 3. Write the name of your bee, guild, or sewing group but please realize that if you use initials or abbreviations that the family may not know  the "meaning" of the initials or abbreviation.

Images were created by Loretta Weaver using EQ5 and Microsoft Publisher. Instructions were written by Loretta Weaver. Pattern / Instructions may be reproduced. If you need a smaller version of the pattern to share with your bee, guild etc., please contact Loretta.

This is one version of the pattern. Other methods are available, such as using templates or cutting (2) 7 1/2" squares and cutting them on the bias once to create the 4 bias triangles.
